A Canadian grow bag and geotextile supplier that started with a single sewing machine.

How it started

Matt started RootPro in 2018 as a side project, with one sewing machine and a plan to help grow better roots with fabric. His first customers were CSA farms and ACMPR growers, and word spread from grower to grower. Within five years RootPro had a production team, and soon after it was supplying commercial operations.

Built on textile experience

Before RootPro, Matt spent years working at a textile manufacturer. Time on the production floor taught him how to change the fabrics properties and how it affected its performance.

It also showed the problem with many grow bags. Some are too thin, they dry the soil out and tear easily. Others are too thick and don't let enough air through to prune roots. Matt found the right balance of thickness and weight by growing in the bags himself and listening to the growers who used them. That fabric goes into every RootPro bag today.
